HIPS successfully sourced & analysed a minority investment in Connected Energy, a Leeds (UK) based company specialised in second life battery storage for BESS in commercial and industrial use. £15mn, Series A round where Hinduja Renewable Holdings invested alongside Caterpillar Venture Capital, Mercuria, OurCrowd, and Volvo Energy. Connected Energy is also backed by Engie New Ventures, Macquarie, and the Low Carbon Innovation Fund.
Exists in modular containerized solutions: E-STOR (power 300kW / capacity 360 kWh) using 20 ft container with 24 Renault EV batteries, and M-STOR (power 20MW / capacity 40MWh) for larger projects. Most importantly the superior software of the BMS is able to use different battery brands / chemistries.
This investment allows the Hinduja Group to better understand and fully integrate BESS in its renewable power offering for C&I as well as large public tenders.
